Bars You Have To Check Out If You’re Into Fun Cocktails

Sure a drink at home can be good at times, but are you really getting creative with shakers, garnish, and the whole nine yards like a great mixologist does? Check out these Philly bars that are shaking up some great cocktails!

Ranstead Room

Address: 2013 Ranstead St, Philadelphia, PA 19103

Brenden: "It's pretty tough to find - which is perfect since it's a speakeasy, but it's a great spot for a more low key night or a unique date. The drinks will definitely satisfy the mixology nerds out there with super creative cocktails. Pro Tip: Eat at El Rey and say you want to go to Ranstead after; they'll take you through the back way so you skip the line - which most of the time is pretty long."

Harp and Crown

Address: 1525 Sansom St, Philadelphia, PA 19102

Adam: "Speakeasy decor and specialized cocktails that are made for many types of tastes."

JJ Bootleggers

Address: 35 S 2nd St, Philadelphia, PA 19106

Matt: "Super cool, chill spot to watch the games if you aren't into the loud crowds. It has speakeasy vibes (hence the name). Order a moonshine and watch the games in style for a great change of pace from the classic sports bars."

Bar Hygge

Address: 1720 Fairmount Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19130

Adam: "The drinks here are pretty spectacular. It's a warm atmosphere inside with high chairs, low tables and bar space, too. Seating is available outside in good weather. A side section of lounge chairs and couches have a speak easy feel. The menu is unique and had a different selection than your average bar/pub/restaurant. Great date location!"

Franklin Bar

Address: 112 S 18th St, Philadelphia, PA 19103

Marilyn: "The Upstairs Bar at The Franklin Bar is a tiki bar, the only one in Philadelphia right now. If you love tropical drinks & decor, this is the place for you!"

1 Tippling Place

Address: 2006 Chestnut St, Philadelphia, PA 19103

Rebecca: "Beautiful speakeasy in Rittenhouse -- unpretentious and very comfortable place to have drinks. Classic handcrafted cocktails and amazing seasonal specialty drinks. I recommend trying a specialty drink & the penicillin cocktail."

Spice Finch

Geo: "Fantastic food, out of the box cocktails and a great ambiance."

The Twisted Tail

Address: 509 S 2nd St, Philadelphia, PA 19147

Stacey: "If you’re a whiskey fan, this is the place for you! With a nice selection of whiskey, bourbon and scotch, you can imbibe while listening to live music. The Happy Hour offers a nice range of food but the chicken sandwich is my go to and it’s filling!

If you find yourself to be a regular, you might want to consider the free to join Bourbon Club. With a list of bourbons, you can check off the ones you try and be rewarded with a rocks glass(when you’ve completed the list), discounts and special tasting events!"
